Pacaya Volcano – What to Expect

Off-Road Trails & Volcanic Terrain 

The Pacaya Volcano ATV Tour takes you through rugged landscapes made of wet forest, volcanic rock, and petrified lava fields. At an elevation of nearly 2,500 meters, the area delivers dramatic views and constantly changing terrain.

We start in San Vicente Pacaya and ride through trails that lead to different viewpoints and villages located at the base of the volcano. From these points, you can admire stunning views of the Calderas Lagoon directly from your ATV.

Volcano Views & Lava Trails 

We continue toward sections of petrified lava flow where you can hike “as high as you feel comfortable.”
You’ll have multiple opportunities for photos, landscape viewing, and observing how active Pacaya is during the season.

Private Plantation Trails

A unique highlight is riding across volcanic sand and lava fields inside a private plantation: terrain you really cannot access without a guided tour.
